GETTING AHEAD & STAYING AHEAD
Build your future. Strengthen your stability. Keep moving forward.
Getting Ahead and Staying Ahead is a two-phase journey that helps individuals move from surviving to thriving. Built on the evidence-based Getting Ahead curriculum developed by AHA! Process, participants learn to build resources, plan for their future, and strengthen the skills needed to maintain long-term stability and progress.
Getting Ahead in the Workplace builds on the Getting Ahead framework, by helping participants apply what they have learned about resources, decision-making, and future planning to employment.
Rather than focusing only on job skills, this phase supports individuals in understanding how to navigate workplace systems while continuing to strengthen their personal resources.
Participants explore how to:
-
Navigate workplace expectations and culture
-
Build and maintain professional relationships
-
Apply problem-solving and decision-making skills on the job
-
Manage time, responsibilities, and competing demands
-
Identify opportunities for growth and advancement
This phase connects each individual’s future story and resource development to real-world employment. The goal is not just getting a job, but maintaining stability, increasing income, and creating a path forward.
Staying Ahead classes are open to the public.
STAYING AHEAD

After completing Getting Ahead, participants continue building momentum through Staying Ahead, a series of ongoing life skills and personal development topics designed to support long-term success.
These sessions reinforce and expand on key areas such as:
-
Budgeting and personal finances
-
Setting healthy boundaries in work and relationships
-
Communication and conflict resolution
-
Recovery-focused support and relapse prevention
-
Goal setting and long-term planning
-
Stress management and emotional resilience
Staying Ahead recognizes that success is not a one-time achievement, it’s something that must be maintained and strengthened over time. This phase provides the tools, support, and community needed to sustain progress, overcome setbacks, and continue moving forward.
Staying Ahead is open to the public. No registration or prerequisites required.
